I love the fact that you can be vulnerable with your coach and open any time. I also love the fact that the program was designed in such a way that there was a balance between learning UX fundamentals and applying it into a real project

For the apprenticeship part, it’s been a mix of exciting and challenging in a good way. I like that I get to see how design is done in real-world contexts, not just in class. Sometimes it feels a little overwhelming, but in a way that pushes me to grow and try things I wouldn’t have on my own. Overall, I feel like I’m becoming more confident in my skills and starting to see how design could actually shape my career.

Not too long ago (literally 2 months ago), I was re-thinking if I wanted to be in the design space in general. I know I still have a long way to go, but I’m hoping this can maybe motivate someone. I’m really grateful for how things have worked out, and especially grateful for Aadil, Muhammad, and the rest of the DesignXP community

What set Design XP apart was that the goal was never perfection of the end product, but developing your personal design process. Working with real companies on real problems, the emphasis was always on how we think as designers, not just what we deliver.

Aadil is an exceptional mentor. He was dynamic and very generous in sharing his approach to collaborative work in user research, presentation and interview practice, heterogeneous pathways to the field, and much more. His high level of motivation in offering peer-to-peer support is motivational in itself and any interlocutor would feel lucky to engage with the depth, veracity, and variety of his professional experience.

FAQs

Do I need prior UX experience to apply?

No prior experience is required! Our program is designed for beginners, career switchers, and early UX learners. We provide the foundational training and support you need to confidently take on real-world projects.

How much time should I expect to commit each week?

You should plan for 5–8 hours per week during the learning phase, and about 8–12 hours per week during the apprenticeship. Our program is flexible with asynchronous content, but there are deadlines to help you stay on track.

What if I’m not selected for the apprenticeship?

Everyone who enrolls in the full program will get access to an apprenticeship opportunity. If we’re unable to match you right away, you’ll be prioritized for the next cohort or project intake. In the meantime, you’ll still have access to live workshops, mentor feedback, and community support.

How does the matching process work?

After completing your core lessons, you’ll submit an intake form sharing your skills, interests, and preferred project types. We then match you with a real business partner based on project availability and your profile. Our team reviews every match to ensure a good fit.

Can I include this experience on my resume and LinkedIn?

Absolutely! You’ll be working on real-world projects with actual business outcomes. Many graduates feature this work as a primary case study in their portfolios and resumes—and we encourage you to do the same.

Is there a refund policy?

Yes — if you withdraw within the first 7 days of the cohort start date, you’re eligible for a full refund. After this period, the program is non-refundable due to the commitment we make to securing projects and mentor support for each participant.

What’s the difference between an apprenticeship and an internship?

An apprenticeship at DesignXP is a mentored, project-based learning experience. You’ll work on real projects for actual businesses, with guidance and feedback from experienced designers — but the primary goal is skill development and building a portfolio.
An internship is typically a formal job with an employer, where you contribute as a junior team member. Internships often focus more on output for the company, while our apprenticeship is designed to help you learn, improve, and showcase your growth.
